Hello everyone, this is Suji from Grace Spa. Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, “My skin looks a bit dull,” or “My scalp feels more sensitive than before”? I honestly had a similar experience in the past. It was frustrating because even after getting direct treatments on my face or scalp, the effects seemed to be temporary. But I discovered a crucial connection that we often overlook: ‘lymphatic circulation’. Did you know that the key to healthy face and scalp is surprisingly found in your armpits and décolleté? 😊
Understanding Lymph Nodes: Our Body’s ‘Purification System’ 💡
Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped organs distributed throughout our bodies. They don’t just filter out waste; they are also a vital part of our immune system, protecting us from invaders. Lymph fluid circulates with muscle movement, but modern people often have poor lymphatic circulation due to prolonged sitting and stress-induced muscle tension. When lymphatic circulation stagnates, waste builds up, leading to various issues.
Why You Must Target the ‘Décolleté-Armpit’ to Clear Facial and Scalp Waste 📌
“Why do I need to massage my neck, shoulders, and armpits for face and scalp care?” I get this question a lot. It’s a very important question, and the answer lies in the pathway of lymphatic circulation. The lymph nodes of our face and scalp gather under the jaw, behind the ears, and along the neck before finally collecting at the lymph nodes above the collarbone (décolleté). The final destination from these clavicle lymph nodes is the axillary (armpit) lymph nodes.
Therefore, no matter how much you improve circulation in your face and scalp, if the final drainage channels in your décolleté and armpits are blocked, you won’t see proper results. It’s like continuously pouring water into a blocked drain without clearing the clog. That’s why gently releasing the décolleté and axillary lymph nodes is the first step to improving facial and scalp circulation.
Lymphatic massage is more effective when you gently stroke along the lymph flow rather than rubbing or pressing hard. Applying too much pressure can damage the lymph vessels, so be careful.

At Grace Spa, we don’t just focus on the face or scalp. We believe it’s most important to provide care that considers our clients’ overall circulation. Specifically, our Korean Facial and Head Spa programs include axillary and décolleté lymphatic massage as a standard part of the treatment.
With the expertise we’ve gained through countless clinical experiences, we meticulously check our clients’ lymphatic circulation status and apply personalized pressure and techniques. By gently releasing the tense shoulders, neck, and axillary lymph nodes, you can immediately feel the effect of improved facial complexion and reduced puffiness. Consistency is Key to Lymphatic Circulation ✅
Lymphatic care isn’t a one-time thing; consistent management is crucial. While getting professional care at Grace Spa is great, I’ll also give you some simple self-massage tips you can do at home.
- Décolleté Massage: Gently press the hollow area above your collarbone with your fingers. Sweep in a circular motion, following the collarbone line up towards your neck.
- Neck Massage: Gently sweep downwards from behind your ear to your collarbone.
- Axillary Massage: Raise your arm and lightly grab and release the inside of your armpit with your opposite hand, or gently massage in a circular motion with your fingertips.
It’s best to avoid lymphatic massage within one hour of eating or after drinking alcohol. You should also refrain from it during early pregnancy, when you have a fever, or if you have any skin injuries.
